NADIR
"Big Open Wound"
(Auto - Production)
Really, the iberian peninsula don't dry up of talents! Nadir could be compared to his neighbours of Heavenwood for his doom site and for the riffs constructions; thought, there is an excellent background of gothic rock in this music : The Sister of Mercy, of course, Fields of The Nephilim too.. but also The 69 eyes. The singer's voice is absolutely seductive whereas some accuracy problems sometimes, which surely add to the general charm and the blackness of the execution.
When we listen to Nadir, we can't help asking if there isn't a mark of Portuguese/Spanish making in gothic metal as the music of the formation takes its roots where Moonspell and their descendants have already taken them.
The production is weak and the keyboards-sounds are not very good mixed, but all that is quite excusable because this self-production is well done and belongs a real creative force.
Where the Germans use to ground in the ridiculous, Nadir sublimates this gothic metal stained with doom, filled with distress and total blackness.
A great congratulation to them, we hope that their next appearance in this magazine will be done thanks to an album and a signature.
